Vistara to Cease Operations as Merger with Air India Nears Completion
The merger between Vistara and Air India is nearing completion, with Vistara set to cease operations on November 11, 2024. This follows the Indian government’s approval of Singapore Airlines’ ₹2,058.5 crore investment in the Air India Group. The merger is part of Tata Group’s strategy to consolidate its aviation interests, bringing Vistara—originally a Tata-Singapore Airlines joint venture—into the Air India fold.
From September 3, 2024, customers will no longer be able to book Vistara flights for travel after November 12. Vistara aircraft will then be operated by Air India, and bookings will be redirected to Air India’s website. Existing Vistara bookings through November 11 will proceed as usual. For bookings beyond this date, reservations will be automatically transferred to equivalent Air India flights, with updates provided to customers individually.
Club Vistara’s loyalty program will merge with Air India’s Flying Returns. Members can link accounts manually or rely on automatic consolidation if key details match. The merger, first announced in November 2022, will see Singapore Airlines acquire a 25.1% stake in the Air India Group, forming one of the world’s largest airline entities.
